Hello,

I am from Germany and in summer I am going to Washington DC and NYC.

Where can I buy a MacBook Pro 13.3 inch i5 or i7 outside an Apple Retail Store in Washington DC or NewYork City.

I have no problems with the import sales taxes from Germany. The MacBook Pro is buying over a company. And on notebooks there are no other tariffs.

In Germany I can buy a MacBook Pro 13.3 inch for i5 906.72 EUR = 1,296.25 USD

In an Apple Retail Store in Washington DC costs the MacBook Pro 1,270.94 USD (with 6 % taxes)

Best regards

I cannot speak for either or those two locations ( DC or New York ), however if you are going to travel over the road between those two locations you should be driving through DELAWARE.

You could stop along the way and pay NO SALES TAXES.

I know there is an Apple Store in CHRISTIANA MALL, just minutes off of Interstate 95.

Also the Best Buy stores in the area are Apple resellers as well.

This map shows where Christiana Mall is in relationship to the Interstate 95 Highway.

I do know there is an Apple Store in NYC, we went there on a trip last year.

If you can go this weekend, it is not far from DC. About 20 minutes driving.

You can buy it for 999 w/ tax = 1049.00 for the i5 version.

Good luck!

Thany you very much. I have a little problem. I will go from NYC to Washington and return with a train, not a car.

Is in the near of the shop a train station with a connection to NYC and/or Washington? I am from June 9 to June 17 in the US.

There is an Amtrak station in Newark Delaware, but in all honesty the added cost of changing train and hiring a taxi to get to the Delaware Apple store would eat any savings in tax.

It would only be convenient if traveling by car.

I do believe sales tax is higher in NYC then in DC.

NYC = 8.875
DC = 5.75

I got those figure from a Google Search, I do believe they are current.

There is an Apple store in downtown DC in the Georgetown area (~$10 taxi each way from the train station). You could also hop on the Metro (subway) from from Union Station (Amtrak) and take the orange line train to the Clarendon stop in northern Virginia, just outside the city. The Apple Store is about 1.5 blocks from the train station in a very nice shopping area.

I buy most of my apple products from that store.

Hope this link works:

I drive up and down the I-95 corridor frequently between home (NYC) and work (DC). The Christiana Mall store would be ideal (no taxes), but since you'll be on the train it's a no go. There's no doubt that the flagship store next to Central Park is awesome, but you'll save the most at the DC location (lower tax than NY).

Viel glück!
