I have searched the forums this morning, and so far haven't found any threads that appear to be the same issue I am having.
I have been successfully printing to a Brother multifunction printer that connects directly via Cat5 to my Time Capsule. My MBP is connected via wifi only, to my Time Capsule. I recently bought an HP multifunction device from the Apple Store, so my wife and I can print via Air Print from our iPhones and iPads.
I have successfully connected the new HP printer to my Time Capsule based wireless LAN, as verified by the printer's LCD display, and also by using the printer's menu option to test connectivity to my wireless LAN and print out the IP addy and other characteristics of the LAN. I also have used the AirPort Utility on my iPhone to show all wireless devices connected to my Time Capsule, and it does indeed show the HP printer is connected.
When I install the HP drivers/software on my MBP (Yosemite, with all the latest updates installed), my MBP is never able to see the printer on my LAN. I've deinstalled and re-installed the drivers fresh, from both the CD that came with the printer, and also by downloading directly from HP's web site to make sure I have the latest versions. Same result.
I've also tried connecting by going to System Preferences -> Printers on my MBP to find/add the HP printer that way, same result: MBP can't see the printer.
My aforementioned Brother printer continues to work just fine. As my HP printer is at the other end of the house from my Time Capsule, I haven't tried connecting it to the Time Capsule via Cat5 (as the Brother printer is connected) to see if that might work.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
