MacBook Pro CD Drive broken

Hey guys,
I'm working on my friends MacBook pro, 2.16GHz, 1GB ram, and im trying to install leopard on it and the cd drive is broken and wont read cds or dvds. any ideas? is there any way i can install leopard without getting an external cd drive?

If you have another Mac I think you could use target disk mode. OR, enable remote disc on the MBP w/broken DVD drive and then share the disc drive from any computer with a DVD drive.
