I went to my local Apple authorized repair shop(not a Apple store) to get a failed 85W charger replaced for my 17 Inch MacBook Pro that is under warranty.

I am worried it isn't genuine Apple. It has the Apple logo on the side of it but it just doesn't "feel" right. The plastic (w)rap the charger came in was not the normal clear (w)rap. The cord going to the computer doesn't feel as smooth or as flexible like the original and on the side it says "liteon technology corp".

I know they can use refurbished parts for warranty replacement I just want to make sure it is the real deal.

Picture included.

The whole label looks pretty much the same as mine, except my manufacturer is: Delta Electronics (Jiang Su) Ltd. Mine adaptor is also 4 years old, so Apple would've taken on more than one maker or switched.

Btw: it's 'wrap'.

Brah, I know it's 7 years later but I just bought that exact charger. Was it, is it real? I'm dying to know!

Well this is blast from the past. I never really found out. If I recall correctly it died shortly after I got it.

From what I can find I think it's actual legit, Liteon did make 85 watt Magsafe chargers. I've seen videos of fake Liteon's on YouTube but the one I got off eBay (big gamble I know) I think is real. It weights the same as my original charger and it's putting out very little voltage (0.2v) at the mag plug when not plugged in the fakes put out like 3 of 4 volts constantly.

If it was sold as new off eBay the odds of it being counterfeit are incredibly high. Where do you suppose somebody would get their hands on new chargers to sell? You can't use the weight test anymore, the counterfeiters figured out ages ago to add weight so they match a genuine charger.

Well, I wasn't play the odds on a new one? Did I say I bought a new charger? If I did, I meant it as new to me. Anyhow, I could think of a few reasons why someone might have a new one, use a little imagination. How about someone, we'll call her Joy. Let's say joy bought a Magsafe charger she thought was real a couple years but it turns out to be a fake and Joy cry's herself to sleep that night. The next day Joy's like grrr I'm just going to buy a new computer! So, she picks up a new Macbook pro with the Magsafe 2 charger. A couple months later Joy catches wind of the Apple exchange program, which, lets people send in their fake charger and a few bucks for a new Magsafe one. Joy sends hers in because she still has her old macbook and because they're expensive. A but later Joy has a friend who's computer takes a dump, Joy being the friend she is offer her friend her old Macbook, which, her friend is gracious for and she already has her own charger for! Joy now has a brand new charger and no use for it so she posts it on eBay. You could probably think of a story too you seem to know a lot.
As for counterfeiters figuring out to add weight ages ago, an age is a long time Steve23049. We're talking, like eons there's close to 25,000 years in an age and your talking about ages, so no they didn't that don't make any sense. I appreciate you total ******** on my purchase with your inside knowledge and just assuming you know its counterfeit. Them damn counterfeiters, they know to add weight with the same parts Apple uses, and they make the case and cords look exactly like a real ones. And them counterfeit guys even have them made by the same contractor as Apple. And Apple even sells them at the Apple store total jerks.

I have no idea what you're trying to say.
