I have a netgear wireless router which has worked fine until now. I just recently bought my macbook pro and ever since then it will randomly crash. In order to get it working again I have to reset the router. The macbook however still displays that it is connected with full signal. It doesn't happen all of the time either. It will work fine for hours then crash four times in a row. It just seems to be something with the macbook and the router on a network where all of the other computers are pcs. Any ideas? Thanks

I'm sure it's coincidence

but my netgear (614v4) router bit the dust 5 days after getting my Penryn MBP.

*shrug* Good excuse to get an AEBS.

I'm having the same issue with my netgear...I'm having comcast come install a router/modem gateway today...

I dont think my case is MBP related...I think its a DCHP issue, so having the modem AND router in one device I'm hoping will fix my problems.

Maybe Apple wants us all to buy their wireless solutions...which are pretty damn sexy...and 802.11n enabled...

I'm thinking its not your MBP...try connecting to a wifi hotspot to test it.

Good Luck!

It might be a coincidence your router started having issues. I don't see how a wireless client can kill the host.

i have a netgear rangemax MIMO that i purchased last december 07.
i'm getting the same wireless dropping whenever someone at home uses their PC laptops..

but when i'm out using public wifi like in the library, starbucks or the mall..
my connection is very steady, so i guess it's the router and not the MBP

you're right, apple wants us to but those sexy airport express!!
they're so freaking sexy!

My mac mini and my macbook pro had trouble accessing the internet through my netgear router. It would work for a few minutes and then stop. My iPhone works fine, I bet that your router isn't being killed, you're just not able to get anywhere using wireless from your notebook.

Hook up the MBP to the router via ethernet as a test and I bet it would work fine.

the first time my new macbook pro connected to my netgear router lol it completley knocked down my whole internet. i just turned the modem off and the router off and turned them both back on the same time and boom i was back online
