I have a MBP 15" 2.4ghz, built around feb 08, purchased from the referb store (uk) may 08

I left it uploading a file last night , when i came back to it , it had gone to sleep, when i tried to wake it , it did not wake, so i held down the power for 10 sec until it restarted.

On restart the screen did not illuminate & i got no chime. I have tried to reset pram , and boot from start up DVD, but i dont think the keyboard has any power, as the shift lock dose not light up, also using an external keyboard dose not work as i don't think there is any power on the usb port.

I can hear the HD spin and the start up DVD will spin, but all i get is the white light on the front on all the time, about 1/2 brightness,

I have tried reseating the memory, starting up with out the battery, draining the battery, different power supply, but no luck, any suggestions?

any recommended repair centers in central or west london?

Thank

eSanta

That sucks. Next time buy AppleCare ;)

When I saw this thread title, I wanted to reply, "at least it died a peaceful death":D

If you have (well had) an Nvidia 8600GT you probaly are suffering the very known and hated "black screen of death".

It happened to me like a week ago and apple replaced for free in 3 days.

Go to your apple store and if they tell you to pay point them to this apple notice
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377

They will do it for free.

Once you get your new logic board don't forget to turn on again time machine (if you used it) and to repair disk permissions.

;)
