I'm hoping something like this can be taken care of thru applecare...as I baby this laptop...and this started happening all of a sudden...

anyone else have this issue?

If it's any consolation, this isn't just a MBP problem. My girlfriend's ASUS z70 experienced similar banding problems, and had the display replaced under warranty (after the laptop was gone for a month). Then it started happening again a little while after the warranty expired. It required more and more flexing to get it to work properly again until finally it wouldn't work at all unless you continually pressed the middle of the bottom bezel inwards while pulling the sides outwards and reciting an invocation to Ba'al. Needless to say, this interfered with both typing and voice recognition. :p

In the end, it wasn't worth it to replace the screen out of warranty and she got a new laptop. Hopefully AppleCare will be kind to you, and let me know if you need my spellbook.
