can someone please be nice enough to help me? so my macbook pro froze and i turned it off the wrong way. i held down the power button until it shutdown. then i turned it back on and when i did, my desktop background reverted to the original mac desktop background and all my documents and downloads files disappeared? i didn't rename the system and i didn't mess with any of the settings. my documents and downloads are just gone and i'm so worried! however, my memory space remains the same so i was thinking that the documents are still in there? i'm new to macs so i don't really know. does anybody know how i can get those documents and downloads back? or why this even happened?

Go to the top right of your mac and click on the magnifying glass

Type in "downloads"
Dont click on the folder yet -

--> Click on show all
--> Type in "downloads" again in the new window that appeared
--> Find the folder downloads
--> Drag to the bottom
--> Repeat for any other item

Please tell me if this solved your problem, or if there is something else.

This. You could also type in the name of a file you knew was in there to see where it may have moved to.
