Ok, so I got one of the very first new generation macbook pro's just after they came out, with the unibody design. It's a 15 inch, and it's been fine for the most part. Recently however it refuses to recognise DVD's. I recently did a total reformat because I noticed it was running a little slow, so I zero'd out the hard drive and re-installed the OS. Before I did this I didn't have any problems with DVD's, although I started to get some problems with the fake ones I bought in China after an update or two.

Now whenever I insert a DVD (including the applications install DVD from apple) it gives the message that I inserted a blank DVD. This happens on every disk, including totally legitimate real ones that I bought in a shop in the UK. It doesn't recognise any of them. I've no idea what the problem is. Can someone help. Btw, everything else is working perfectly, it's just the DVD drive.
