Hi there, I have a question. I like to download, often times for days on end. Is it okay to let my Macbook pro download for days or even weeks, never turning it off? I know that this might hurt the battery, but aside from that.

Followup question, if the macbook is not hooked up to an external display, if i close the lid it goes in sleep mode, so I have to leave the macbook open and just let the display go to sleep in order to keep downloading. Is there a way to close the lid and still have it download while not hooked to a external display? I don't want to disable to sleep fuction altogether, because there are times when i want it to sleep.

Or you could get a NAS that supports a download client e.g. Synology.

That way you can make your MacBook a portable computer again.
