Hi Guys,

I've got an MBP 17" and the monitors broken (stays grey with white/black lines on) however when plugged into an external monitor I can see my desktop background but no dock/task bar at the top of the screen. Is their any way I can get it to swap around so that I can see my desktop on the monitor instead of the broken MBP 17"? Or a way to mirror the screen across?

I really need to get access to the computer so that I'm able to salvage my data as Apple have quoted me £450 for the rapair which is extortion!

Thanks,
Jeff

There's a keyboard shortcut for mirroring. Can't remember it though - i'm afraid i'm only the bearer of (good?) news.

try OPTION + DECREASE BRIGHTNESS. This should get you into display mode toggling. OPTION + INCREASE BRIGHTNESS should get you into display preferences.

I believe it's Command + F1 OR Command + Shift + F1. Since you are using a laptop you might want to try adding the FN to those combinations.
