The insert mechanism of the DVD drive on my Macbook Pro is jammed after a Lion reinstall 2 days ago - and now the drive does not react to incoming CDs/DVDs. When I press and hold the eject key - nothing happens - neither visually on screen nor with the drive (noises etc). Previously, this generated a large eject symbol on the screen. This is no longer the case.
I am trying to run Apple Hardware Test the drive as it seems to be dead. However, this does not work either:

1. Pressing "D" key during boot / start up does not work. No matter when I do so. Computer just proceeds to start when holding down "D - albeit longer that usual.

2. I cannot use any CD roms of earlier OSX versions with ATH on as the drive does not work.

3. Thought Lion sported a webbased hardware check version(?) An online source instructed that holding down the "D" key until Apple logo appears (then release) would start the webbased Hardware Test version. This is however not the case for me.

ANY help and/or pointers would be appreciated as I have run out of ideas and ressources...
