Macbook Pro early 2008 - does not start up anymore

Trouble-History
-no boot using power adapter as only power source
-after several cycles, battery does not perform properly:
sometimes the macbook pro does not go to sleep, it just shuts down.
when it goes to sleep,it takes 15 min of charging before it wakes up again

Yesterday the macbook did power up, but with a blank black screen, with the sleep light glowing. Had to switch it off.

-after performing a p-ram reset, i had a successful startup once
-now nothing happens when pushing the power button

Hopefully someone can help.
Thanks,
G

I'd check the dc in board, sometimes called a magsafe board. it's a pretty cheap part and good place to start troubleshooting

thanks for answering. Seems to be a nividia issue. Will drop the macbook pro off at the apple store tomorrow.
