The plan is:

1. Buy a 4GB ram stick (I have 2x 2GB, this will make it 6 GB, the maximum according to OCW)
http://www.datamemorysystems.com/_memory-information/4GB_DDR2667_SODIMM_191.asp

2. Take out my 250g hitachi sata HDD
**see attachment hitachi_HDD to confirm
and then put it in the spot where the optical drive will not be anymore after I take it out (see step 1.5)

3. Put SSD where my HDD used to be

4. My optical drive is ATA, not SATA, so I need this:

This might give you a better idea - adapter photo gallery

As for ATA aka PATA aka IDE/ATA <---> SATA:
-I realize ATA, also known now as: PATA is slower than SATA.
True? Can anyone give me the speed limitations off the top of their head vs the realistic speed maximums of the SSD?
I'm just talking transfer rates, throughput, etc as I realize that the access times do not account for this.

As for my INexperience:
-Anyone willing to check steps 2 and 4 for me to see that I am correct that my optical drive is connected via ATA and my current HDD via SATA?

As for my RAM/SSD buying choices:
-RAM and SSD are cheaper on this "non-branded, distributor from the manufacturer," type of place. 3 year warranty on the SSD. If this MacBook doesn't get somehow destroyed in 3 years, I'll be happy.

I see that the SSD is SATA II who cares. SATA 1 is fine for this cheapo. Right?

Lastly:

Anything stand out that you see won't work?
Anyone bought these products before?
