I recently purchased an audio dj mixer (Pioneer DJM 850) which has an audio interface built right into the hardware. This mixer was to replace another audio interface I use called an audio 8 (Traktor) which allows you to time code synch vinyl to digital audio files. I'm connecting this mixer to a Macbook Pro early 2008 (intel 2.5 core 2 duo).

Ever since this mixer has been connected I can't seem to get a clean audio signal. When I'm connected to the time code software I get constant clipping and skipping of audio. At first I thought it was the mixer but since then I have exchanged the mixer and still having the same problems. I have also tried increasing the latency and decreasing the sample rate but no luck there either. What I have noticed is that using a smaller usb cable appears to make the audio issue happen less frequently. The unit came with a 4 foot usb cable and issues with audio happen every 20 minutes or so. I purchased a 10 foot usb cable and with this cable issues happen every 2 minutes. I'm not sure why this would be but I have a feeling that maybe this particular MBP (early 2008) has known usb port issues. I've read a little bit about it online and I wanted to find out if anyone here has anymore info on this particular.

I'm really tearing my hair out here trying to figure this out so any help would be greatly appreciated. Below are my MBP specs:

Macbook Pro early 2008
Intel 2.5 Core 2 duo
4 gigs of ram
