I have an early 2011 MBP which I replaced the battery in a few months ago. I've had it unplugged and unused for a couple of weeks and plugged it in today. It started up but everything is going super slow and the battery icon up top says "Battery is not charging" and "Power source: Power Adapter". Is there a reason why the computer is running so slow and the battery is not charging?

What kind of battery did you use for the replacement? There are all kinds of "knock off" batteries available on eBay, Craig's List, etc. Sometimes you get one that's real good, sometimes not. OWC batteries are more expensive but are of much better quality, almost as good as the Apple original.

Anyway, it sounds like the battery may be failing causing the slow downs. You can try removing the battery but that may cause the machine to not boot.

A $28 battery ?
I wouldn't be surprised if it has gone bad already...
BTW it should have 12 months warranty according to the Amazon deal.

Yeah I just thought it was cheap because it's an 8 year old laptop. Does apple sell them? I'm not sure if it's worth it to buy a battery or just save for a new mini.

UPDATE: I just opened it this morning and entered my password and after a long time it said "Macos couldn't be installed". I wasn't even try to install the OS, I was just waking it up.

Maybe the logic board is failing...

Your MacBook Pro according to Apple is vintage. Finding a genuine Apple battery for it would be very difficult.
call it almost impossible...
Apple doesn't even sell original parts for new products.

I had the logic board replaced by apple a couple of years ago. It would be a shame to have this laptop totally unusable anymore.

Maybe you can find some answers in here?

you can use battery from 2012 model, which will be easier to find genuine battery, there is some used batteries on eBay advertised by seller with capacity over 90%
