Hi everyone, first time poster. I have had an issue with my MacBook Pro (10,1 Retina Early 2013 15”) where the computer turned off unexpectedly and wouldn’t turn back on (would boot and die on the apple logo). I took the back cover off and found some corrosion on the SSD on the first line of SMD’s. I have given the corrosion a clean and since then, I haven’t had any issues.

NOTE: I ran apple hardware diagnostics and it came back fine except for the usual 4HDD/11/4000....:SATA(0,0). I have also run black magic and that also came up fine

My question is, should I keep using the SSD or should I not risk it and buy another? Even though it seems to work, I am worried about future reliability.

Thanks guys!

It's probably ok - but it sure won't hurt to have a regular back up / clone with something like Carbon Copy Cloner

Even if the SSD is ok the fact that there was corrosion might mean there are other components affected as well?
