hi, a seemingly simple problem, burning up all my time. i'd like to install linux by booting from a usb thumb drive... i am failing. macbook pro 2,2 (2006 model) ... super drive has gone bad. efi is killing me... the only way i can boot a thumb drive is to create a bootable thumb drive with `refit` on it , with an hfs+ filesystem, however, i'm not sure how to use refit to boot a linux install.. the mac efi boot process searches for fat32 partitions using gpt which contain a `/efi/boot/`? so why don't you see my thumb drives when i create a gpt fat32 partition containing the proper directory structure (/efi/boot/) where a grub.efi and a grub.conf live .. killing me efi.. you're killing me... what to do?
