Hi, I have just bought this HDD http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-MyBook-External-FireWire/dp/B002T492CM/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1307626339&sr=8-6 and Just want to know if a few things are possible.

This HDD will primarily be used for Time Machine and I want to dedicate 750gb to it and then use 750gb for other stuff. Does anyone know anything about this HDD, if it can be partitioned in to 2 separate drives or if not and it only stays as 1 drive will it be ok to use TM on it along with other file storage?

Also this HDD will only be used for my 1 mac book pro and nothing else as it is a music editing machine and I need constant back ups.

Thanks.

Today I got my 1.5TB WD external HDD, and I partitioned it into 2 parts both 750GB. One is for TM and the other is for storage. I did my first ever TM back-up today and it was 192GB, as I do not know anything about TM or how it works I am asking is this normal that it is this big and is everything ok?

When you first run TM, it will back up everything on your Mac's hard drive. So if you have 192GB on your hard drive, yes it would be normal.
