Hi all,
I am new in this forum so, first of all, I wish to say hello to everyone.
My MBP (retina, mid 2012, with GPU, OS Catalina 10.15.7) recently has the fan running a lot.
So I installed the app FUNNY to control the temperature and the CPU is at 75°c but reaches 95°c without doing nothing!
I already tried the following suggestion found on the web:
1) clean accurately the fans/cooler system and change the thermal paste
2) reset the SMC
3) uncheck the option "automatic graphic swithicing" in the energy saver
4) run antivirus (AVAST)
5) check with activity monitor if there is anything strange (CPU is used normally)
No result. The fans still run a lot...
Could you please suggest other thing that I can try?
Thank you very much!
Kind regards
Alberto

When this happened to my 2013 Retina MBP, I was able to reproduce the issue. After a few minutes doing nothing temps would heat up to 95 degrees. So the Apple Genius tech was nice enough to do an out of Warranty Replacement. Its been a few years now. But they replaced the WHOLE SYSTEM like I was given a “New” refurbished System. It was better in every way than the system I gave them. But that was ages ago and I don’t think they are so cool now in Covid-19 times.

I will try, thank you
