Hi,

The fan in my MacBook Pro is being pretty strange. After booting it seems fine, but 10 seconds or so after it's gotten to the log on screen, the fan starts getting faster, even if nothing has happened.

I've tried resetting the SMC multiple times but to no avail (but I did the ⌃+⌥+⇧ [Control + Alt/Option + Shift], rather than take the battery out because I don't have the right screwdriver). I also rest the PRAM, which didn't help, nor did fan control programs.

Anyone got any ideas?

Are you getting a spike in the temperatures reported by the various sensors, causing the fan to run up? It would be completely normal for the fan to run in the event of high temps… An improperly installed heat sink can cause this, but you would also see that the temp sensors show a high temp at the same time.
