MacBook Pro Flicker "sometimes"

I have a 2012 cMBP (1440x900) that exhibits flickering. It may be pixel walk, but on the Lagom LCD test 1a, 3, 4a, and 4b can flicker depending on the location on the screen.

I see flickering the worst when on the green color palette Powerpoint and with just the BlackMagic Disk Test screen open (very obvious in the results checkerboard-style grid). However, this is when things get interesting. If I take a screenshot, the flickering only occurs when the image is zoomed exactly at 100%; when the checkerboard pattern is a bit smaller there is no flicker. In addition, when the dGPU is active (either forced or when in Windows), there is much less flicker (nearly invisible). This leads me to believe that Apple does something with the Intel GPU that causes the flicker.

I know that in power saver mode in Windows for Intel HD and up the screen refresh rate is bumped down to 40Hz and can result in some flicker. Can any of you see if there is any difference in flicker between iGPU/dGPU? Its annoying, but if its normal I don't want to repair it because I have SSD, HDD in Optibay, and other upgrades set up already.
