Hello all,

I currently have a 12" MacBook that I plug into a 4K TV, unfortunately this is limited to 30Hz which at times can feel a bit sluggish. Not only this but it seems to struggle when playing movies with what appear to be dropped frames.

As I now spend most of my day sitting at a desk I have been looking to upgrade to a MacBook Pro. Judging by the specs of the 13" it only has HDMI 1.4 which doesn't support 60Hz, however I read somewhere that a DisplayPort to HDMI cable would work but wanted to double check this to be true?

If you're buying a new MBP, you will need a "USB-c to HDMI 2.0" adapter/converter.
BUT BE CAREFUL:
Not all that are sold will work with the 2017/18 MBP's.
Some will work fine with 2016 models, but not the later ones.
You have to read the info carefully and check user reviews from Mac users.
YOU MUST DO YOUR "DUE DILIGENCE", or you could end up with an adapter/converter that doesn't work.

You also need a "high speed" HDMI 2.0 compatible connecting cable.
Not all HDMI cables are equal.
Again, you must shop for and buy the right one.

Good luck.
