Macbook pro for producing music which one

My friend wants to buy a macbook pro for music production. He has a macbook but says it is far too slow. He uses the program logic. Which should he buy the 2.4, 2.53, or 2.8 GHz? Anything else he should consider?

why

a new aluminum macbook is plenty fast enough for music production, i have the whole logic studio on my aluminum macbook and it runs it plenty fast, the only justification for a macbook pro for music production is if he wants the bigger screen
if he really wants the MBP then the baseline 2.4is more than enoiugh

s2mcpaul,

Since you're talking audio on an MBPro, I thought you should know about this thread. I read it yesterday with terror. Maybe it won't matter to your friend because, if I'm reading this correctly, the hissing/popping doesn't occur when using an external interface via the optical, only on the analog jack. Still, I noted from the thread that the macbook (sans pro) apparently did not have this behavior.

Best luck.

I think the main feature here between the 2

is the screen size 13.3 and 15'

If you prefer to have a bigger screen on the go then go PRO

If not.... just get a decent external monitor for home when your at home

Unless the screen is a issue then the Alu Macbook would be fine

The pro line would be excellent, either a mac pro or macbook pro, a 320gb 7200 rpm hard drive, with a 2.8ghz processor would be blazing fast for him, thats my recommendation.
