The same chap who discovered the references to new motherboards in macOS 10.12.4 beta code in the front page article has also noticed Apple has removed the "late" from the late 2016 MacBook Pro's name.

So rather than MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2016) we now have MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) for example.

I'm not sure what this means, if anything, but I can't recall this ever happening before.

For now, the About This Mac window still includes the "late".

What it probably means is that it was the only 15" MBP to come out in 2016, so no need for "late."

You can say that about the MacBook from 2015 and 2016, but they still have the "early" prefix.
