Macbook Pro goes to lock screen after i download to desktop

Whenever i save a web image to my desktop after my mac finishes the download it then goes into the lock screen and i have to enter my password to get back to my desktop is there a quick fix for this its very annoying.

Any chance you're using a download manager that is set to "Sleep when downloads are complete"?
