I've done some research on the various sleep modes available through "pmset" and currently i have everything set so that when the mac goes to sleep it keeps everything in memory and writes nothing to disk. I'm currently using a samsung 850 evo SSD as my boot drive (in the optical bay) and a seagate 2TB HDD in the normal bay for media.
When i close the lid it takes 22 seconds to go to sleep. When I open it it wakes practically instantly. Does anyone know (or can link me to info) what it's actually doing in that 22 seconds? I try to put my mac to sleep whenever I'm moving it so as to try not to damage the HDD (i've had notoriously bad luck with HDDs no matter how gentle i am)
I have 8GB of RAM, so i know it would take a while to write that to the disk. But A. it shouldn't be doing that in this case. And B. If it was, it should be writing to the SSD, which should be fast.
