MacBook Pro hangs everytime with Final Cut Pro

Hi, I have the top of the line MacBook pro.

I just bought and installed final cut pro.
When i goto effects tab, then the FCP hangs completely.
I have tried 2-3 times and I have to force quit everytime.

What to do ?
