I’ve done a ton of looking around and it’s hard to find anything that pertains to my situation.
My problem is to the bottom if you want to skip just a preliminary info
But someone please help a dummy out
I’ve never owned an Apple computer.
I have purchased a 2012 15 inch MacBook Pro 2.7 i7 with upgraded screen etc
My plan was to max it out with the ram and to SSD by removing the CD drive and use data doubler.
When I actually pick the computer up, it already had 16 GB of RAM and 1- 250 GB crucial SSD M500.
After running a black magic disc speed test I realized that the crucial drive was old and the new ones would perform much better
So I ordered two Samsung 860 Evo 500 GB SSD and data doubler
I believe I made a mistake by not waiting to install both at the same time, I installed one of the new SSDs while the data doubler was in the mail. Then I learned that you cannot just install another hard drive and then just simply select raid zero and everything work.
Needless to say I have white this computer four times now before I figured it out.
I had to use super Duper on an external SSD to set up the raid 0
So everything is running fine, High Sierra installed the way it was when I purchased the computer, raid 0 complete and disk read/right speed 950 MB/s
This time I made a time machine back up at this step.
So to my point, three times now in the App Store it shows that there is an update. One update is for Safari, another update for iTunes, and then a security patch. Three times now I select update all and it goes through a couple processes and then it just hangs up in this installation screen and never moves.
And all three times I end up having to reinstall OS X lion and setting the whole computer up all over again
I’m starting to think I should just use it on OS X lion
It’s just an update, and I’m not sure what’s going wrong but I don’t know how to fix it.
Should I just upgrade to Mojave
Each time the computer will sit for hours. Last night was the final time after the time machine back up that I tried the update. The computer has been sitting in the same exact spot progress on the installation status bar since 9 PM last night.
I figured I would just leave it for the rest of the day while I work but I have a feeling it’ll still be sitting there when I get home
