Is it true that the new MacBook pro 500GB 7200-RPM Hard Drive is only a SATA 1.5 Gbps versus the older MacBook Pro that was 3.0 Gbps?

It does not matter (as long as you're not going to install a very fast SSD).

And the 500Gb/7200rpm is not really faster than the 500GB/5400rpm.
