I Currently Have A First Generation Macbook Pro And Wanted To Swap Out My Maxed Out Hard Drive What Are The Steps To Backup Everything On To My New Hard Drive And Any Preferences On Certain Hard Drives That Are Out There.

1.)Buy a 2.5 enclosure

2.)put new drive in it

3.)clone over OS using http://www.shirt-pocket.com/ if you have a windows partition
as well your'll need http://www.twocanoes.com/winclone/

4.)boot from external

5.)if all ok swap drives by using the guides found at http://www.ifixit.com/


If your not doing rendering then id go for a 5300 the largest one
currently available is the WD scorpio 320GB its a great drive
