Macbook pro HDD Upgrade.

I own an early Macbook Pro 2011 version.

Currently I have only a 320gb HDD installed so I am looking to upgrade.

I am looking for 750gb or 1000gb/1tb max I want to spend is around £50-£60

Also Another question is, when installing a new HDD and wanting to install a fresh OS installation on to it which I have on my Thumb drive, when pressing the options key whilst the laptop is turning on do you select the picture of the Hard Drive or the Orange flash drive picture?

I know you have to make the whole Hard drive into one partition, but before I'm sure which picture takes me on to the next correct screen?

The reason I am asking is because I cant find the answer anywhere. I do not want to put my current hard drive on to time machine or anything I just want a fresh install on a new hard drive because I will put my current hard drive in an external casing then take what I want from that afterwards.

The hard drive looks fine.

You will want to boot from the flash drive that contains the OS reinstall. You will then select the hard drive once the reinstall utility starts, and it will install to the new hard drive.

Did you make it with the Lion USB Maker assistant?

As you said, 1 partition, but also remember to make it a GUID Partition table and format the drive OS Extended (Journaled)
 
nah I just followed some steps on youtube and put dmg file on the memory stick, should I use the assistant programme or?

I'm sure that will work fine. Did you get it from the package contents from ML purchased on the App Store?

I didn't purchase it but downloaded it as a torrent then got if from the package contents.
