I have this model Macbook Pro:

http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-2-duo-2.4-15-santa-rosa-specs.html

Whenever I attach my Edirol UA-25 and use it with virtual DJ my temps reach between 80-90c with the fans at full speed. Compared to 48c when using the headphone out on the onboard soundcard. It also does this with a M-Audio Audiophile firewire card. Both cards are powered by the mac and cannot be used otherwise.

Does anyone know why the temperatures are so high and if it can be resolved?

I'm not familiar with either devices, but are there OS X drivers available for them? If so, do you have the latest version of said drivers?

Yeah I have the latest drivers for the Edirol. I don't use the firewire as M-Audio haven't brought out Mavericks drivers yet.
