i could really use some advice. I’m not technologically inclined and I wanted a new MacBook. I really would like one to store pictures and videos along with the normal everyday stuff.

I went shopping and was talked into this model:

Apple - MacBook Pro 15.4" Laptop - Intel Core i9 - 16GB Memory - AMD Radeon Pro 560X - 512GB Solid-State Drive - Space Gray

I’ve only had it for a day and still haven’t opened it yet and I’m questioning If I made the right decision. A friend is telling me I’m wasting my money for extras I won’t even use and I’d be better off with this model:

Apple - MacBook Air - 13.3" Retina Display - Intel Core i5 - 16GB Memory - 512GB Flash Storage - Space Gray

For what I’m going to be using it for, what do you recommend? I really won’t be using it a ton, as I said, just to store pictures and burn some home videos I take with my cell phone or an old school camcorder.

Please help....

The i9 is overkill for almost everyone, in my opinion, and certainly for everything you mentioned.

Since you purchased a 15” Pro I have to assume cost isn’t the most important factor for you. I think the Airs are great machines, and one would meet my needs. But I prefer and am very happy with my 13” Space Grey MacBook Pro with four TB ports. That sits in between the Air and the 15” MBP. Consider giving it a try. You could even save a bit if you went with the 2 TB port model.
