I connected my MBP via HDMI to my TV. When I do this, my MBP's volume button increases the volume but my TV's volume does nothing.

How can I fix this problem?

I am playing media using XBMC. Yesterday it worked perfectly. When I put my MBP in via HDMI, I could not longer change the volume using my MBP's F11+F12 buttons, I had to use my remote or the audio control in the program!

As transferring audio via HDMI is like using a Line-Out, you just send the system audio signal "without" volume, thus the receiver is responsible for volume.

this isnt the case though. when i turn up the volume on my TV, nothing happens. when I press F11/F12, thats when the volume change occurs.

if u cant see the screenshot, the available settings are:
audio output:
speaker config:
audio output device:

when its just my MBP, these settings don't really affect it. on my TV it does a lot though.
