I have a 2020 13" MacBook Pro with four TB3 ports (10th gen i5, 16gb RAM) and I am a student that uses Zoom a lot with 100+ participants with video and virtual background on while also using Safari, Word/Excel and other apps while in the Zoom meetings. While on the latest version of Catalina, I never had any problems doing all of this but after updating to Big Sur yesterday, both fans spin much more and CPU gets hotter and it creates a big slowdown/lag that I can't use or work on anything else outside of Zoom. Kind of frustrating that a $1,800 laptop is having these issues only on Big Sur. How can I downgrade to Catalina or fix this? Is it that the system is doing new indexing after update?
