Hey guys,

I have some questions about my Macbook Pro.

It’s a 2008 or 2009 model I believe, I have a 500gigs hard drive and 4gigs of ram. I started off with 250gigs for a hard drive but just upgraded to 500. About two months ago, I took my Macbook into an Apple store because the cable that connects the hard drive to the logic board (I think that’s where it’s connected) was bad and needed to be replaced. I hadn’t used my computer in 9 months.

They fixed it for me really quickly. But within a few hours I had several problems coming up again with the computer running slow, being unresponsive and acting weirdly. That’s when I found out my hard drive was failing and I needed a new one.

So I bought a new one and installed it and they re-installed all my programs and upgraded me to Mountain Lion.

Over the course of my Macbook’s life I have gone from Leopard, to Snow Leopard, to Lion, to Mountain Lion. I did the one hard drive change but have not changed much else.

I know that my battery is bad but apart from that I think my computer (speaking in terms of hardware) is fine.

However my computer is very slow and unresponsive at times. It takes a lot of time for my programs to open and I get the rainbow pinwheel a lot. It seems that any type I try and run a few things at once my computer comes to a crawl and the fan seems to be working over-time, constantly spinning at full speed. I asked Apple about this and they said it was fine. I was worried because the computer is always heating up and gets really hot. Apple said it was fine and the computer would shut off it got too hot.

I’m wondering if something could be wrong with my computer or if this is just a matter of upgrading my ram or something like that.

Any help is appreciated.
