Hi All,

I have a 2016 Touch Bar 15 MacBook Pro, recently I keep coming back to my desk to find it won't wake up and in fact it has shut down.

This is the report it gives when I restart it, any ideas?

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff8000a9092c): Sleep transition timed out after 180 seconds while calling power state change callbacks. Suspected bundle: com.apple.iokit.IOThunderboltFamily. Thread 0x15a42.

There's something wrong with your Thunderbolt subsystem. Do you have a TB3 device connected to the MacBook when that happens?

Thanks for the reply, ah okay, yes I have a Thunderbolt Display connected via the TB2 to TB3 adaptor, it's a genuine Apple adaptor not a knockoff one so I assume that isn't the problem?

It can be caused by PowerNap.This issue is quite common on MacBooks from 2016 and newer (even the current ones have that "feature").
Try to reset SMC and NVRAM. If that doesn't help, disable PowerNap in Energy settings. PowerNap is pretty useless anyway.

Amazing, thanks for that, it was enabled in Energy Settings, just disabled it so will keep an eye and try SMC etc if it doesn't work. Thanks again!
