so my MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011) has an issue with the keyboard that it's had for a long time but is now getting worse.

basically the backspace and keyboardlight down keys are way too easy to actuate. just resting your finger lightly on the key will actuate it.

i know this is a super old machine but i hope there is an easy way to fix this as i'm still very happy with the performance of this Mac.

Unless you can fix it really cheaply, it's probably not worth putting any money into (at 10 years old). Go to ifixit.com and see if the keyboard is replaceable. They'll have an illustrated guide on how to do it.

Probably time to start shopping for a replacement.

If you can hang in there about 3-4 more months, the new MacBook Pro 14" and 16" models should be out (with the updated m-series CPU and more ports).
That's what I'd be "holding out" for (in fact, that's just what I'm doing)...
