Macbook Pro Late 2008 Ram

I have a Macbook Pro Late 2008 2.66 Unbody and have read in various different places that the maximum amount of ram my machine can take is 4GB, 6GB or 8GB. Does anyone know if my mac can take 8GB and be able to use all this ram?

By default, 4 GB of RAM is installed as two 2 GB modules, no slots free.

*Apple officially supports a maximum of 4 GB of RAM but third-parties have been able to upgrade the system to 8 GB of RAM using two 4 GB memory modules regardless of the installed operating system.

Just google Macbook Pro Late 2008 2.66 RAM ...

As long as updated with the latest EFI on the MBP then will be ok running 8Gb.

I am typing this from a mbps 2008 with 8Gb installed.

Wasn't announced but it does work with 8Gb, however you will need the latest efi update. Is several years old so should have it by now.

The 2.66GHz CPU makes it a March 2009 MBP. These systems, along with the January 2009 17" MBP, shipped with the firmware changes to support 8GB.
