MacBook Pro Late 2011 Fan Replacement

Hi,

I'm getting really annoyed whenever i try to do intensive tasks on my MBP involving audio because of the fan noise - even when connected to external speakers.

I've seen that the rMBP fans are different due to fan blade spacing, and may not be as loud. Is it possible to replace my MBP fans with rMBP fans, or are they different sizes? Could i take the fans apart and just swap out the blades?

Have a look at the tear downs on iFixIt, you may be able to tell from that.

I'd already looked but it was a little inconclusive to me. I was hoping there would be someone who had taken apart both laptops and knew if they were the same or not?

No you cannot, the mounting holes would mostly be located differently. The retinas fan has a 6 pin connector with a fully different cable. Unless you can find the pin out and solder it its impossible. I suggest you try and looking up for replacement fans from other companies.
