Hey guys just bought a Macbook Pro 13" Late 2011 on Craigslist.
I use to own the Early 2011 version when it just came out in Late january of 2011.
Anyways one thing I don't remember is hearing the hard drive making a fan type of noise. It's not loud, nor does it sound awful but it sounds as if there was a fan built in spinning. At first I thought it was the actual fan, I opened the back plate, turned on the computer and the noise was coming from the hard drive. I downloaded SMC fan control and fans were going at around 2000 RPM when no activity is happening. I have no programs open but activity monitor, I also put in another HDD and same thing happened. It sounds like a fan but its not the actual MB fan. I know the hard drive is always suppose to be working but I just don't remember hearing it like this. I remember my early 2011 MB silent unless I opened a game or a heavy App. What could be happening? I'm probably used to my Macbook Air's SSD lol
