MacBook Pro Late 2013 upgrade to current MacBook Air?

I have a MacBook pro Late 2013 - 15", 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, 16GB of RAM

I don't really understand the new processors and the advertised speed, Im finding it confusing. Would a MacBook Air be an upgrade, or really not much difference?
