Hey All,

I turned on my laptop this morning and noticed what seems to be broken LED's at the bottom of the screen. I have attached a photo of what this looks like.

Would you recommend buying a new MBP or getting this replaced? I am thinking about getting the M1 Air, and this might be that opportunity to do so.

You should 100% look into this free repair program provided by Apple. Your LED'S aren't broken, a cable inside the computer is due to Apples fault.

Even if you want an M1 you can get it fixed for free and have a higher resale value. They replace the broken cable with the same sized cable destined to fail so id sell the fixed computer and upgrade happily, your current computer has both the early butterfly keyboard and the screen cable issue which can both cripple the computer randomly, and the repair programs for both will expire relatively soon.

Hi Acorntoy,

Thanks so much for the useful information.

I will make an appointment with Apple for next weekend to get this sorted. For now, I will stick with the current MacBook and get the Air later in the year.
