I have a MacBook Pro (17") and I just installed a new monitor: the LG L245WP.

Works fine on my Windows XP PC, but when I hook up the MBP (using HDMI interface on the monitor), the display is not correct. The screen looks a bit fuzzy. Not sharp whatsoever. When I then turn off the oversan in the display options on Leopard, everything looks perfect, however, now the display area on the L245WP is smaller. So the display is ok, but I'm not using the full screen on the monitor.

Did I miss anything? Who can help?

Rob

try detecting displays. that should give you the available resolutions.

That's not the problem, the resolution is fine. It's just that at the correct resolution, the screen is not entirly used. In fact, it seems as if the monitor seems to think the laptop provides video input. Therefor the overscan results in full screen usage of the monitor.
But that gives a terrible quality.

I'm having the same issue. Overscan turned off on the LG and display resolution set to 1080p on the macbook pro yet the display area doesn't take up the hole screen.
