(7 mins, 24 seconds in) Watch for about 20 seconds, the first guy opens his new macbook 16" and it wobbles, and the second guy opens his 15" and it also wobbles

See this video at 11:05-11:08. It also happens to this girl's laptop too.

Is every 15"/16" MBP like this? Or is it just a few due to lack of quality control?

I'm not sure if this will be the final straw that breaks the camels back, for me to want to return this thing.

Normal... my Mid 2012 Retina does the same thing!

You'll be returning soon if your notice the power cable sways in mid air too if its stretched out... I sure hope you don't discover that!

Seriously?

Dude just return it. If that is something that you think is quality control related there is no helping you.

I think one has OCD!

Some of these return reasons have gotten so out of control its ridiculous. I mean this one may be the most out there one yet.

I just need confirmation that a lot of the newer macbooks have this problem before I waste my time going to the apple store

I think one has OCD!

It's not OCD, it's just attention to small details. Maybe picky is the more appropriate word, rather than OCD. But consumers have the right to be picky, especially if they're spending a lot of money on these premium Apple products.

Unless the inflated prices are more for the logo/brand itself, rather than the quality? If it's all about the brand, then I guess we're just buying mediocre quality products with an Apple logo slapped on top of it. I guess we have no right to complain. But if we're actually buying quality products, then we have every right. What do you think we consumers are buying? A logo or a premium product?

Have you never owned or operated anything with a "hinge", like a car, a refrigerator, a washing machine, dryer, house, apartment, cupboard, pet door, locker?

If you do take it to the Apple store, you won't be wasting your time. You'll be wasting their time.

I had an old MBP 15", but I somehow don't remember the lid wobbling. I do remember it had keyboard issues though. I have been in contact before with a car, refigerator, washing machines, etc. and if you get good quality ones, they don't/shouldn't wobble.

The only realistic comparison I have to my 16" lid wobbling is my old cheap windows laptop. That too also wobbles, and it's also smaller than the 16". However, I don't expect an old and cheap laptop to have the same quality as an expensive macbook.

Again, just return it. Can you do me one favor though? Can you have your phone out and record the look on the Apple employees face when you tell him you are returning it due to the lid wobbling when you open it? I would really like to see his face when you tell him this reason.

I don't think I'd want to do that, I may get ridiculed like I am on here, being seen as a crazy person.

that's normal, they all do that..

Why though? Does yours do it too?

Yes, it happens with almost all Macbooks but is especially more pronounced on the 2016+ models because of the thinner display body compared to the ones before.

Seems counterproductive for any OCD-like person to buy a product at launch.
This could have been prevented by watching the Youtube videos and reading reviews before buying

I checked the laptops in store, the 13" and the 16" and they all wobble similarly to mine. I do think that mine wobbled more. I'm surprised this has been a long term problem, and Apple has done nothing to fix it. So much for Apple being known for their "attention to detail".

If you watch youtube videos of sellout reviewers, then these guys will only praise the product and talk nothing bad of it.

And I did watch some reviews, look at the original post, there's 2 examples of 2 different influencers/reviewers and in those videos I saw their lids wobble when they moved.

Also it's not OCD, it's attention to detail. Maybe Apple should do more of that, considering that's what they are were known for.

That is one of the reasons I never buy a SB. It noticed it on videos and in person.

And you bought it anyway knowing about the wobbling?

I had an old 15" and I never realised it had this problem. And besides I needed the new keyboard since the butterfly ones are trash

Wow and I thought the ghosting people were crazy.

wonder how OP gets any work done

Seeing actual evidence = crazy?

Even the manager at the Apple store tried moving the lid of my laptop and other laptops they had and said that it was the same

Why do you care?

Why wouldn't I care? Why would any consumer spending good money on a product not want the highest quality possible?

That is one of the reasons I never buy a SB. It noticed it on videos and in person.

What's SB?

OP this has nothing to do with build quality or attention to detail. Every single laptop on the planet does this. If they didn't the hinge would be way too tight and a pain to open.

I was kidding around with my earlier posts and people are bothered by different things, and I get that. Its important for you to know that this isn't a build quality issue and that your MacBook Pro is functioning properly.

Yeah its something I have to accept. I already returned my 16" and I plan on getting another one, and I'm sure my second one will have the same problem. Oh well, hopefully the coil whine will be less and the keyboard will be more reliable in the next one.

I'm failing to see any wobble in the display panel. I think OP, that you're being overly critical. I'm one who usually gives the person the benefit of the doubt but in this case I think there's nothing wrong.

Btw, when I owned a surface laptop the screen wobble was significant simply because of all of the weight being in the display and not in the keyboard.
