Hi all,
My wife has a 15" Macbook Pro that my daughter spilled a drink into (Crystal Light, the Macbook was closed but the liquid went into the back). After some time I determined that at least the hard drive was bad and replaced that. After doing that and restoring from Time Machine the Macbook works just like before except for the battery.
The computer refuses to recognize the battery. There is an X inside the battery symbol in the menu bar and the computer won't start or run by battery power only. I tried a new battery and the result was the same so I know it's not the battery. The strange thing is that if my wife closes the Macbook without shutting down and unplugs it the light by the latch remains on, pulsing slowly. It will stay this way for well over an hour - probably longer but that's all we've tested. If you open the Macbook and try to wake it up nothing happens but when you plug it in it wakes right up in the same state as it was when it was closed. Also the battery seems to be charging even though there's not indication of that from the plug or on the menubar (the status lights on the bottom of the battery go between 3 and 4 lit up).
Does anyone know what might be the problem? I'm hoping it's something reasonably priced I can replace myself.
Sorry for the long post. I appreciate any help I can get on this.
