I'm using my new Samsung G9 Neo 57" on my x2 PC's mainly which has a native resolutiuon of 7680 x 2160 @120hz.
I also have an older 16" MacBook Pro M1 which I'm trying to use on the monitor (via HDMI) but in the display settings on the Mac, It only seems to go upto 5120 x 1440 so looks a bit crappy and blurred. Is there a way of getting the correct 7680 x 2160 on the Mac or do I need to use the display port on the monitor with a Thunderbolt to display port cable?

It doesn't have to be Thunderbolt, an appropriate USB-C to DP cable should work.

So I tried the DP cable but I still don't see any resolution higher than 5120 x 1440, but I do see 120hz now.
I've tried the Easyres app too but that just shows no higher than 5120 x 1440 as well?

ok thanks. Do you know if the M2 15" woud work at that res?
It will not.

I really don’t think that 7680 x 2160 @120Hz is supported with M2/M3 Pro. It’s the 120Hz that will be difficult at that resolution. I think you’d need DisplayPort 2.0, which the Mx chips do not support.

yea they cheated out even my 2017 and 2018 pc laptop can do the 7680 on my 57. I have the M1 Max that time and remember mkhbd saying this is a premium product and they are gonna cheap out on hdmi that time. lol at that time I didn't even care because I didn't even think about having a 57 inch screen lol
