I've got a MBP 14 and 16 (both M1 Pro) connected to a Samsung USB-C 4K monitor that charges the MBP. The MBP is in a stand, with the lid closed. It never sleeps on it's own.
I don't really like the lack of sleep control in macOS, as it only gives me a slider to adjust when to turn off the screen. What about sleep?
I have an external Thunderbolt m.2 NVMe SSD enclosure connected, with LED's that show that it is always powered. Could that be keeping the Mac awake?
If I choose to manually sleep (Apple Menu, Sleep), it goes to sleep, but then wakes back up after some amount of time.
I have my Samsung monitor plugged into a power meter and when the monitor is off but the Mac is idle (after hours), it shows about 15W. When I manually choose sleep, it's about 4W. But after a bit, I check and the meter shows 15W again so I know it's awake.
Ideas on how to get the Mac to sleep on it's own and stay asleep?
