Macbook Pro M2 Max (14 inch) USB Issue

I am using two audio devices plugged into my Macbook Pro, these are the devices:

I am using an adapter to convert from USB A to C.

The devices work fine for a while but then disconnect. I have to unplug and plug them back in again.

I have used them on a Windows PC without an issue. Is the Macbook more sensitive, and perhaps there is a power overload? I want to rule out any hardware issue.

That is my suspicion as well. The USB bus is not providing enough consistent power. Try attaching them on opposite sides of the MBP. Otherwise, try attaching your adapters to a AC powered USB hub.

Thank you, i have tried them in different ports but the same thing happens. I am wondering if I should get it looked at under warranty or if that is overkill, and just to accept that its a bit more sensitive to power requirements. I will look into a powered hub if that is the case.

This may be a case where the system will temporarily disable a port if it detects something odd with the voltages. You also stated you were using a USB-A to USB-C adapter, but what brand of adapter? I have had good luck with Anker's adapters, but I've seen some no-name brand adapters have nothing but problems.

One was an Anker adapter, and the other was some generic off-brand. I think that might be the culprit so have ordered another Anker adapter.

Maybe get a powered USB hub and plug the devices into that? That would help insulate the Mac from having to provide power to the devices.

I am guessing desktop PC's are a bit more resilient when it comes to drawing power from the USB sockets?
